2008? Already? Well, if you say so.

Time really flies when you're working your ass off.

We've come to the end of our first year of Destiny Helix comics (although technically we've only been putting comics up for about 5 months.) We've gone from posting a page of the Radicals about every two months, to putting up three pages of comics every week. It's mind-blowing when I look at the 3-inch stack of art we've produced in the last few months, especially in comparison to what we had produced in the three years prior. I'm pleased and proud of the efforts of my team. Pride in oneself leads to foolish mistakes, but I don't see how pride in one's friends can hurt, so I'm gonna take the time out brag on them.

I've known Jake since high school and when I first met him, he could barely draw people at all. This didn't stop him from drawing though and perhaps one day, his "Space Hamster" comics will be available publicly. Jake was pretty unsure of himself and it took repeated beatings to get him started on the Shepherd, but since then he has stayed on task and not missed one deadline. I shoved him out on stage and now he's improvising quite well. It's fair to say that without Jake's persistence, encouragement, and experience in management this whole endeavor may have already become an epic failure losing it's steam right out of the gate.

I've never even met Sam White, but we're lucky to have him on board. Sam is the author of several books including The Ellipse as I mention as often as I can remember to. Additionally, he is the artist and writer of Tuttles, an honest to gosh PUBLISHED comic strip. It's in newspapers and everything. Sam's also smoking the rest of the team as far as productivity, as he is already seven weeks ahead on Burt and the ILS. All this and he works as a minister and software tester while raising two boys.

Ian serves primarily as our coordinator and researcher at present. He also scouts out resources and services, like out printing services, etc. He also stays on top of comics news and trends to know what's going on in the industry and comes up with fresh new ideas. Also, DC and the Sci-fi channel are apparently monitoring him, because every idea he comes up with turns up in a comic or as Sci-fi original movie within 6 months.

And, lastly I must thank Roberta "Berta". She has pulled my bacon out of the fire several times, and man I HATE burnt bacon. She's provided guest art and pin-ups with last minute notification when I've fallen behind. She's also provided a lot of material for the gallery and provided a necessary distraction when I've gotten WAY TOO into things. I'd probably never leave the house if it wasn't for her.

And thanks to our readers also, without whom all this would be pointless. Here's to 2008 being even better!
